Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and Puzzled for your use of Puzzled. By playing, you accept them. If you do not, the remedy is simple and costs you nothing: stop using the site.

Our privacy policy explains what we do with your data and forms part of this agreement.

You must be at least 13 years old to use Puzzled. Some countries set a higher age for using an online service without a parent's involvement; where that applies to you, that age is the one that counts. By using the site you confirm you meet it.

You can play as a guest. Your browser is given a handle, and your history belongs to that browser — clear your browser's cookies and it is gone, because there is nothing else identifying it as yours. That is the trade for not having to register.

Registering upgrades the guest you already are, keeping the history you had. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself. Tell us at contact@puzzlegaming.live if you think somebody else is using it.

Pick a username other people can be shown: names that impersonate somebody, or that would breach the conduct rules below, can be changed or removed.

Puzzled is a place people play together, often strangers. So:

• be civil in chat — no harassment, hate, threats, sexual content involving minors, or spam;
• do not use bots, scripts or automated solvers to play, and do not otherwise cheat other players out of a fair game;
• do not attempt to break, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the service, or to access rooms, accounts or data that are not yours;
• do not scrape the site or reuse its content commercially without our permission;
• do not use the site's content — its guides, artwork, puzzles or other players' messages — to train, fine-tune or evaluate a machine-learning or AI model;
• do not break the law with it.

We can remove content and suspend or close accounts that do these things. We try to be proportionate, and where we can we will tell you why.

You keep ownership of the messages you send. You give us permission to store, display and transmit them so that the service can work — showing your message to the room is the entire point of sending it.

A room is not private. Anything you type can be read by the other players and by anyone watching the room. Do not post personal information there, yours or anyone else's.

We do not pre-screen messages, and we are not responsible for what other players write. We can remove anything that breaks these terms.

Puzzled is free to play. We may add games, change how they work, retire them, close rooms, or change the site at any time. Rooms are temporary by nature — a room ends, and the puzzles and standings in it go with it.

We do not promise the service will always be available or free of faults. We also do not promise to keep your play history forever, though we try: if a record matters to you, do not rely on us as its only copy.

The site — its name, its look, its code, its artwork, its written guides — is ours or our licensors', and is protected by copyright and other laws. You may use it to play; you may not copy, redistribute or build a competing service out of it.

We do not claim ownership of general puzzle concepts or traditional game forms. Our particular implementations, artwork and words are ours. If you believe something on the site infringes your rights, write to contact@puzzlegaming.live and we will look into it.

Puzzled does not currently carry advertising. If that changes, the advertising section of the privacy policy will explain what it means for your data and the choices available to you before any ad is shown. Ads and links may take you to sites we do not run; their terms and privacy policies are their own.

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Some places do not allow these exclusions, in which case they do not apply to you.

To the fullest extent the law allows, Puzzled is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost data, lost profits or lost play history, arising from your use of Puzzled. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

If somebody brings a claim against Puzzled because of something you posted, or because you broke these terms or the law while using Puzzled, you agree to cover the losses and reasonable costs that claim causes us, to the extent the law allows. This does not apply to anything that was our own fault, and nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be given up.

You can stop at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account — see the rights section of the privacy policy. We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or withdraw the service altogether. The sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, the disclaimer, the liability limit, the indemnity — do.

We may update these terms. The date at the top says when they last changed, and for a change that materially affects you we will make it visible in the app rather than expecting you to check. Continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
